Patterned Paper and Weekly Challenge

Nichole from Papertrey issed us a challenge to use stamps to create our own patterned paper. I met that challenge with this card and (unintentionally) with my Week 3 challenge with the ladies on the PTI forum.

The challenge was to use a predetermined sketch with bird/animal stamps and the new yellow/orange PTI colors. I turned the sketch sideways and came up with this:

My First Award

I am so honored that today Erica gave me my very first blog award--The Arte y Pico award. Which means Art and More. The idea is to pick 5 other bloggers who are creative and contribute to the blogging community.

I'm at work right now so I'll have to get back to you with my picks, but I just wanted to say how excited I am. The other women who have received this award are all so talented and inspiring, it truly is an honor to be in their company.

Green Thumb

With my last Papertrey order I finally got Green Thumb. I had so much fun with this set last night. The sentiment came from the Anniversary set I received yesterday from Anya. I used all of PTI's inks (except Aqua Mist) for the flowers. This was my first time trying out the 2-color "rock & roll" technique. I accented the small flowers with tiny dots of Stickles in coordinating colors. I finished off the sentiment with a tiny swatch of Spring Moss till and a brad that was in a multi-pack from the Target $1 Spot.

I think I'm going to get a lot of use from this set.

It's Here!

My mailman brought me a package today and inside was the Papertrey Anniversary set and a beautiful card from Anya. I can't wait to get home from work and get some ink on these stamps! I love all of the sentiments and decorative accents. I can see almost endless possibilities for backgrounds too (like Anya's above).

No photos to share today

I've only had time to make one card so far and I'm saving it for Papertrey's guest star stamper contest so I haven't even photographed it yet. Hopefully this week I'll be able to make some others to share. I really like the April release Pond Life and I think I'll be using it frequently. It's the perfect set to make cards for my nephews, brother, and father, but it can be used for anyone, not just the boys.

More PTI Excitement

Nichole has another one of my cards on her blog! I entered this one for their monthly guest star stamper contest, but as you can see on her site, there was some pretty stiff competition: http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2008/04/april-honorable.html

There were so many great projects this month that I'm thrilled my silly/fun little flower card was even noticed.

What a great day! I got mentioned on Nichole's blog for a second time and I won Anya's contest for the PTI anniversary set. Pretty fricken awesome I must say!

Stained Glass

Inspired by Anya from PTI's wonderful blog contest for her extra anniversary set I decided to make my first attempt at stamping on acetate to achieve a stained glass effect. I used Stazon ink and colored with markers. I think I need to practice a little more, but for a first attempt I'm pretty happy with it.

It's a little hard to see from the photo, but I used Spring Moss ink and cardstock to make a sort of watermark design with some stamped flowers as well.

*Update* I won! I won! :-) http://aschoss.blogspot.com/2008/04/we-have-winner.html

I know I've mentioned how much I love the PTI colors, but I just realized this morning that the last time I had my nails done I picked a color awfully close to Berry Sorbet. I think I'm borderline obsessed. :-)

New Embossing Folders

I got my new Cuttlebug embossing folders yesterday and had to play. I made this card using the stylized flowers folder on Sweet Blush cardstock from PTI. I used my copic markers to accent some of the flowers and then added fruit punch stickles to a little sparkle. I wish the camera had picked up more of the sparkle.

The second card I started this weekend, but then had a mental block and couldn't finish--it just needed something. I decided to add some color to the edges of the white cardstock and two little corner accents from PTI's Boxes, Bags & Tags set (love that set!).

The bird stamp is from Inkadinkado's Birds Galore clear stamp set--a must have if you like birds as much as I do.

I've been using a lot of PTI pink colors, but today they released their new yellow/orange colors so I'm sure you'll be seeing them pretty soon too.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

B-Day Wishes

Well, I didn't have time this weekend to finish anything new, but here is a picture of a birthday card I made 2 weeks ago. I didn't post it before because it is so similar to one that I had submitted to PTI for their Guest Star Stamper contest, but they have all of those photos available now.

For this card I used all PTI products: Stampers Select white, Spring Moss, and Berry Sorbet cardstocks, and Berry Sorbet ribbon. I used the yellow scalloped heart punch from Marvy for the leaf and curved the edge a little for added dimension. The 9-yr old girl who received this card loved it so that was the best part!

More Love for PTI

First off I have to post a pic of a beautiful RAK card I received from Emily at PTI. I had no idea it was coming and it really brightened my day. Thanks again Em!

Next, I have my first PTI weekly challenge card. I did not have the stamp set being used, but I did have the colors and could follow the sketch. Hey 2 out of 3 ain't bad. This card changed directions about 10 times before I settled on this version. In the end it turned out better than I expected.

Hopefully this weekend I'll find some time to make some more cards. If I do, I'll have an update on Monday.

Almost Famous

I about fell on the floor this morning when during my usual "blog stalking" routine I found one of my cards on Nichole's blog! Yes, that Nichole! :-) http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2008/04/its-almost-that.html

She's my personal crafting hero (I'm sure I'm not the only one) because her blog, company website, and forum have really inspired me to be creative and try new things. For her to acknowledge my card is almost too much for me to digest.

Black and White (and a little color)

Last week on Papertrey's site Nichole revived the black and white theme from the week before. I made two this weekend, but I used an accent color on each to go along with the B & W.

On the first card I used Papertrey's Boxes, Bags & Tags and Mixed Messages stamp sets. I wasn't happy with the white stamping so I went over it with my white glaze pen.

The second one uses the same stamp sets as above. I stamped my favorite border from BB&T to create the patterned paper. The squiggly line framing the square is embossed with my brand new cuttlebug and colored with a black spica glitter pen--it looks much prettier in person, just a hint of sparkle.

New Papertrey Colors

I got my new PTI colors yesterday, but I didn't have much time to play with them. Here is a quick card I made using the new pink patterns paper, Sweet Blush and Berry Sorbet inks, and Boxes, Bags & Tags/Mixed Messages stamp sets. The ribbon is not PTI, but it matches perfectly--it was from the $1 bin at Michael's (5 yrds for a $1)! Fruit punch stickles was another perfect match.

Photobucket

I did make another card, but I submitted it for the Guest Star Stamper contest so I don't want to jinx myself by posting it yet. I'm kind of excited--this is the first time I've entered a card for anything.
